Our Story

Primal Hair Care began with a simple question.

While reading the ingredient label on a hair product I was using at the time, I realized something surprising — even with experience working around coatings and industrial materials, I had no idea what many of the ingredients actually were. The formulas were filled with synthetic polymers, stabilizers, and preservatives that felt far removed from something meant to be used on your body every day.

I started searching for natural alternatives, but most of what I found wasn't much better. Many products still relied on preservatives, while others simply used large amounts of clay that coated the hair without actually providing hold.

That search led to a conversation with my father, who is now a co-founder of Primal Hair Care. He has spent over twenty years working in wood coatings development, and during that conversation he suggested something unexpected: pine resin.

From there, the experimentation began. The first formulas were mixed and tested in a garage, adjusting ingredient ratios, refining textures, and improving usability until the product felt right — smooth, effective, and simple to use.

Rosin is the refined, solid form of pine tree resin. It has been used for centuries for its structural properties — long before synthetic polymers existed.

Modern styling products rely on laboratory-made polymers to create hold. We build from refined rosin instead, which provides structured hold without synthetic ingredients.

The result is a pomade that holds and restyles naturally — one you can work with throughout the day.

Natural ingredients alone do not make a product effective. Formulation does. Every ingredient in ROOTED serves a purpose — natural oils, waxes, mineral clays, and resins that provide structure, texture, and control without unnecessary additives.

We don't add ingredients simply to make a label longer. Each component earns its place.
